(Basel, Berthold Ruppel, not after 1476)==============================Pantheologia, sive Summa universae theologiae was the first theological encyclopedia and one of the longest books written in the medieval period. Its author was one Rainerius de Pisis (d.1351, not to be confused with the saint of the same name), an Italian Dominican. ======================================Folio: 11 1/2 by 15 1/3" With many painted initials in red and blue, or just in red, rubricated throughout. Gothic type.2 columns, 60 linesBlind-stamped pigskin spines with raied bands Covers bound with vellum antiphonal fragments. - Hain 13014. Pellechet 10003-10004. IGI 8270. Proctor 7457. BMC III, 716. Goff R 9. - Dating according to a purchase note in a copy of the Bavarian State Library.The author "wrote a 'Summe universae theologiae', also called 'Pantheologia', which also includes rare unpublished authors and the theologians of the Franciscan school" (LThK VIII, 622). Some dampstains, with occasional period handwritten marginalia, a few wormholes and occasional marginal damage. - Bookplate. - Text in Latin==============================Rainerius de Pisis was born in Rivalto and died in Pisa in 1348.
