First rare and sought-after complete edition of the Mariale de excellentiis regine celi, a collection of sermons by the Milanese Franciscan theologian and preacher Bernardino da Busti, in which he defends the dogma of the Immaculate Conception and formulates the Marian privilege.
The complete work was published by Pachel's printing house a year after the publication, in 1492, of the first part alone by Scinzenzeler.
The Mariale is "composed of sixty-three treatises in sermon form that address various aspects of Marian theology;
the number of sermons was deliberately chosen by the author in memory of the years of Mary's earthly life"

Bernardino de' Bustis (c.1450-1513) was a Franciscan friar at Legnano, near Milan. He was an early advocate of the Monti di Pietà, a pawnshop which offered small loans at much more favourable terms than the open market.
