Original hand tooled pigskin over wood binding , spine with 3 raised bands.
This volume is a Renaissance educational edition of the works of the Roman poet Horace, specifically designed for use by students and humanists in the 16th century.
The first part contains the complete surviving poetic works of Quintus Horatius Flaccus (Horace).
The second part, titled Annotationes doctissimae, is a scholarly guide written by the German humanist Franciscus Irenicus (Franz Friedlieb).
Comes with 2 engraved title vignettes, 2 engraved colophon illustrations, as well as engraved initials throughout.
Some wear of binding, back inner hinge split.
Some period pen markings.
Leaves 4 and 5 are missing.
Some wormholes.
The text is clear.
