Prague: George Melantrych, 1570

Large thick folio, illustrated with several large woodcuts including title compartment, large woodcut arms of dedicatees, first leaf of text compartment, and many large text woodcuts throughout;

bound in full original heavy wooden boards with remains of hardware (at the front cover), rebacked, with wear;

some leaves torn with loss, title torn with loss and mounted;

some other tears and losses repaired throughout with tan-colored gummed tissue paper tape;

still an impressive copy, despite faults

 The elaborately detailed architectural woodcut border was redesigned for the 1570 edition, featuring biblical scenes, allegorical figures, and a small depiction of Jirí Melantrich kneeling in prayer at the bottom center.
