The Avarchide is an epic-mythological poem, a reinterpretation of the Homeric and Virgilian epics.
The structure is taken from the Iliad, while the plot, of French influence, is influenced by the cultural influences assimilated by the poet at the court of Francis I. A student of the philosopher Francesco Cattani da Diacceto and a member of the Florentine Platonic Academy, Alamanni had an adventurous life, mostly spent far from his Florence, engaged and involved in conspiracies and attempts to overthrow the Medici power.
