Bound in some modern blank leaves to substitute the missing pages, new endpapers
Original full blind-stamped vellum over wooden boards, clasps (one missing) , spine with raised bands
(binding somewhat worn, hinges reinforced with modern tape).
FIRST GERMAN COLLECTED EDITION OF THIS RARE HISTORY AND TRAVEL BOOK.
Feyerabend issued this work in three parts.
The first part contains the “Account of Prester John’s Country” (a fictional account of a Christian kingdom in a pagan area of the world);
the second part is a German version of Ortelius’ Theatrum orbis terrarium, with an account of Europe, Asia, Africa, etc.
The third part contains the Chronicle of Paulus Orosius, a Christian history of the world.
