Rare and important legal work on canon law:
the Corpus Juris Canonici, the authoritative collection of church law of the Catholic Church, officially promulgated under Pope Gregory XIII at the end of the sixteenth century.
The work contains the principal medieval and early modern sources of canon law, including the Decretum Gratiani, the Liber Extra, the Liber Sextus, the Clementinae, and the Extravagantes.
This Leiden edition follows the corrected Roman text established under papal authority and belonged to the standard scholarly and legal reference works used by canonists and jurists across Europe.
Blind tooled leather-bound volume. Spine with raised bands and title in gilt.
Quarto edition.

Andreas von Miedan (1614–1686) was a Bavarian jurist.
He was Doctor of Laws, Electoral Court Councillor and chancellery official, as well as feudal lord (Landesherr) of Burghausen.
From 13 December 1633 he served as government and administrative councillor in Straubing.
After sixteen years of service he was appointed in 1649 as government chancellor in Burghausen.
From 17 October 1651 to 4 September 1664 he was Hofrat in Munich.
Thereafter he again held the office of government chancellor in Burghausen, a position he held until his death.
