The first part deals with geometry and perspective with reference to Sebastiano Serlio and also contains notes on building materials as well as the organization of architectural spaces.
The second part is devoted to the rules of the five classical orders of columns and is guided by the models of Andrea Palladio.

Illustrated with 89 full-page plates, showing architectural details, geometric constructions, proportion studies, and the classical orders of the columns.

Full vellum binding with a gold-stamped spine title and decorative spine gilding.


One leaf missing (pages 283/84)

Pages 4–12 have some paper losses in the lower corner (repaired).
The title page has been lightly restored on the reverse.
The last leaf shows defects and marginal restorations.

The pages are overall in age-appropriate good condition. Some toning and foxing

Giuseppe Viola Zanini was an architect, painter, cosmographer, and architectural theorist.
This work, one of the most important technical treatise of the 17th century, is based on the Vitruvian system and strongly influenced by Palladio's example.
