Original hand coloring Size (not including margins): 17 x 20.5 inches Verso text: French ancient geographical map with the Bolognese territory published in Amsterdam by Johannes Janssonius Janssonius had associated himself with the Hondius, one of the two great families of cartography publishers in Amsterdam and, having become the owner, he was able to develop the business with great sagacity. The Bolognese territory is shown oriented east-west, therefore with the Apennines on the right, Bologna in the center cut by the Via Emilia and on the left the marshy valleys close to Ferrara. This choice expands the space on the sheet allowing for greater detail and full development of the rich hydrography of the Bologna area.
