- Important early study of Roman funerals by the German scholar Kirchmann (1575-1643).
Illustrated with a frontispiece and 4 folding plates by Romeyn De Hooghe.
The 2nd part is the funeral oration pronounced by Kirchmann for Paul Merula (1558-1607), Dutch jurist and geographer.
The 3rd is a satire on corpse parasites by the French classical scholar and librarian Nicolas Rigault (1577-1654).
Original vellum, manuscript title on the spine spine.
