Original full morocco, gilt.
With text ruled in red throughout.
Ownership signature of Louis Dutens to front blank, and with 4 pages of manuscript notes at rear.
Dutens (1730-1812) was a French writer who spent most of his life in Britain or in British service.
He was tutor to the younger son of the Duke of Northumberland and a fellow of the Royal Society and the Academie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
Also with numerous family notes of the Day family.
Binding/text-block split in half at center with a few detached leaves,
rubbed and worn, gilt dull.
Occasional light foxing and soiling, occasional minor marginal tears, a few leaves with edges frayed/creased, one leaf with corner-ship removing a few words, one leaf to Psalms at end torn in half and laid in.
