Very good condition, minor wear.

- Francois Bruys (1708-1738) converted to Protestantism at the age of twenty, but returned to the fold of the church two years before his untimely death;
This change of heart had no influence on the ban on the work; the papal history was placed on the index in 1750 (Catalogue des ouvrages mis a l'index, 2nd ed., Paris 1826, p. 155 - Index librorum prohibitorum).
If it is truly based on the work of a Moorish man, given the generally high level of scholarship, it is surprising that the work was viewed so negatively - perhaps the author's false beliefs played a major role in this.
