===================================
"The Snows of Tibet Through China" refers to the 1892 travelogue by A. E. Pratt, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, who chronicled his 1887 journey through China to the Tibetan plateau. The book provides a historical account of the landscapes, people, and culture of the regions he visited, along with observations on the social and political conditions of the time.

A diary-like account of his expedition, detailing the flora and fauna he collected and his travels along the Yangtze River and its gorges.

Historically, the relationship between China and Tibet has been complex.
While the People's Republic of China considers Tibet part of China, the region maintained de facto independence from 1912 to 1951 after the fall of the Qing dynasty, an event the Dalai Lama declared had ended Tibet's relationship with China.
