It features 60 detailed illustrations and zinc etchings created by artist John Richards between 1863 and 1888, with text compiled by Julius F. Sachse.
The 1913 publication acts as a visual time capsule, capturing colonial-era buildings, Revolutionary War sites, and street scenes that were fast disappearing in Northwest Philadelphia at the turn of the 20th century
