Modeled after the palm leaf format, a leporello or folded book (samut khoi) made from the paper of the khoi mulberry tree (streblus asper), inscribed by hand on both sides in the Khom script for religious Buddhist texts of Thailand,
illustrated at intervals with scenes from the life of the enlightened monk Phra Malai, his journeys to the underworld and heaven,
a total of 85 sheets inscribed on both sides,
14 paintings flanking the text, scenes of hell, the woodcutter's lotus gift, etc.
