GENESIS 1:2-5:19

Genesis 1:2-5 describes the creation of light and the separation of light from darkness, which marked the first day:
Genesis 1:2: The earth was formless and empty, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the waters.
Genesis 1:3: God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
Genesis 1:4: God saw that the light was good and separated it from the darkness.
Genesis 1:5: God called the light "day" and the darkness "night". Evening came, and morning followed, marking the first day.
Genesis 1–2 is the account of the creation of the physical earth. The creation narrative highlights the emptiness and chaos, and shows that God is able to bring order out of chaos.
